Tests

Exercise Stress Test:

An Exercise Stress Test gathers information about how your heart works during exercise. Before this test is done, you may be asked questions about your medical history, any medications you are taking, and your activity level to determine the appropriateness of the test.

Before the test, your doctor will provide you with instructions that are specific to your medical condition. Wear or bring comfortable clothes with you to the Exercise Stress Test.

Your blood pressure will be monitored frequently, and during the procedure you will be connected to an ECG machine by electrodes placed on your chest. You will walk on the treadmill with gradual increases in speed and incline (according to your ability). Clinic staff will be with you at all times. Please communicate any questions or concerns you might have.

Heart Scan with Exercise
or Pharmacological Stress Test:

A Heart Scan Test checks blood flow to the heart as well as the heart’s pumping efficiency. The first scan is performed when your heart is resting, and a second scan is done after your heart has been stressed by exercise or by injecting a stressing medication.

Before this test is done, you may be asked questions about your medical history, any medications you are taking, and your activity level. Female patients will be asked detailed questions to rule out the possibility of pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your doctor will provide you with instructions that are specific to your medical condition. Wear or bring comfortable clothes with you to the test.

During the test your blood pressure will be monitored frequently, and you will be connected to an ECG machine by electrodes placed on your chest. Medications will be administered through an IV inserted in your hand or arm. To exercise your heart, you will walk on the treadmill with gradual increases in speed and incline (according to your ability). If you are unable to walk on a treadmill, you will be given an IV medication that will increase the blood flow to your heart. Clinic staff will be with you at all times. Please communicate any questions or concerns you might have.
